Commit £18,000? Buy exactly £18,000.

Social value commitments arrive as a number (out of a bid, a contract condition, or a target you have set yourself), not as a tidy count of placements. You can fund any figure you like and we convert it to placement-weeks, so what you deliver matches what you promised instead of rounding up to our nearest package or leaving part of your commitment unspent.

£225 per placement-week, falling to £200 at programme scale

  • £10,000 47.0 placement-weeks at £212.50 per week
  • £18,000 90.0 placement-weeks at £200 per week
  • £30,000 150.0 placement-weeks at £200 per week

Placement-weeks are the unit National TOMs NT131 is measured in, so this is the figure that goes straight into your return. We round down, never up.

  • You get the cohort average, not one person's story

Your contribution funds a share of everything we deliver in the period rather than one named young person. What you report is the average across the cohort, so your evidence does not swing on how a single placement happened to go.

  • Every placement-week is claimed once

We never sell more placement-weeks in a period than we can deliver in it, and each week is allocated to exactly one funder. No two organisations can put the same delivery in their return, which is the part that has to hold up when someone checks.

  • If a placement ends early, that is our problem

Young people's circumstances change and some placements finish short. We hold capacity back rather than selling every week we have, so weeks lost that way are made good from the reserve. Your allocation is what we agreed, not what happened to survive the period.

  • The volume rate still applies

Funding a share does not cost you the discount. Your contribution converts at the same per-week rate as the largest package it covers, so a £30,000 commitment is priced like a programme, not like a one-off placement.

Contributions are pooled across the reporting period. We confirm your exact placement-week allocation in writing before delivery starts, and again in the end-of-period evidence pack. There is no minimum; smaller contributions are welcome and work the same way.

What this period was worth

1 January – 30 June 2026 · 181 days · external outcomes · admin-confirmed

Cost replacement

£74,570

Method 1 + device value: what this work would otherwise cost to buy in, including donated devices valued at a flat £150 each.

Social return (SROI)

£107,314

Method 3: Good Things Foundation / CEBR model, for this six-month period.

Volunteer time value

£50,175

Method 2 + device value: the value of the time our volunteers gave.

These are three different lenses on the same work, from three different methodologies, and they are not meant to be added together. Full workings are in the methodology note.

What sponsoring a young person delivers

18–21 · Volunteer development

A peer mentor, multiplying the impact

Started out as a participant, then trained as a peer volunteer, going on to support dozens of local people with device set-up and basic skills.

16–18 · Work placement

Off the NEET list, into work-ready

Referred to us at risk of becoming NEET, this young person completed a structured placement, built a portfolio of digital skills, and moved on into further training.

17–19 · Digital skills trainee

Confidence that reaches a whole session

Built confidence through our basic skills programme, then began helping run outreach sessions, supporting older adults and newcomers to get online at library drop-ins.

Illustrative examples based on typical outcomes from our young people's programme: composites, not individual case studies.

One contribution. Two sets of outcomes.

A placement is usually sold as an outcome for the young person on it. That is half of what you are buying. The young people on placement are our Digital Champions: they deliver the digital inclusion sessions themselves, so the people they help are a second group of beneficiaries funded by the same money.

  1. 01

The young person on the placement

Twelve weeks of structured work experience as a Digital Champion, with mentoring, a portfolio of digital skills and a reference. Evidenced against NT131 and reported in your pack.

  2. 02

    The people they help

Older adults, newcomers and low-income households getting online and staying safe there, supported by that young person in session. Evidenced against digital inclusion measures and reported alongside.

These sit against different measures and are reported separately, so both count without either being claimed twice.

FAQ

Can we use this as evidence in a bid?

Yes. Every package includes a TOMs-mapped evidence pack you can paste directly into a bid return or contract report.

Our commitment does not match any of your package prices. Can you work to our figure?

Yes. Tell us the figure and we convert it to placement-weeks, which is the unit National TOMs NT131 is measured in, so a part-placement is just as reportable as a whole one, and your delivery matches your commitment rather than rounding to our nearest package. Larger figures convert at the same volume rate as the package they cover, and there is no minimum at the other end.

What happens if a young person leaves part-way through?

Your allocation stands. We cap what we sell below what we can deliver, so weeks lost to someone leaving early are covered from the capacity we held back rather than coming out of your evidence pack. If a period ever ran short beyond that reserve, we would tell you and correct the figures rather than let you report something we had not delivered.

If we only fund part of a placement, whose outcomes do we claim?

You claim your funded share of the cohort's results, reported as an average across the period rather than tied to one named young person. We allocate every placement-week to a single funder and reconcile the total against what we actually delivered, so nobody else can claim the weeks you paid for.

What happens if you don't deliver?

Any placement-weeks you funded but we did not deliver are carried into the next period and delivered at no further cost. You are not asked to pay twice and you are not left short in your return. We agree milestones with you upfront and report against them at the mid-point as well as at the end, so a shortfall surfaces while there is still time to act rather than arriving with your final evidence pack.

Do you work outside Oldham or Greater Manchester?

Delivery is based in Oldham and across Greater Manchester. Get in touch to discuss delivery further afield.

Can we send our own volunteers or staff to take part?

Often, yes. Tell us what you have in mind when you enquire and we'll confirm what fits the placement.

How do you value a donated device?

At a flat £150 per device, applied to every device regardless of its make, age or condition, and only to devices we can evidence individually. A single conservative rate is deliberate: the total moves only with the number of devices, so there is no per-device judgement call for anyone to dispute. The device count for the period is stated with the impact figures above.

Is this subject to VAT?

No. We are not VAT registered, so there is no VAT to add: the price you see is the price you pay.

How quickly can delivery start?

Placements start on a rolling basis rather than to a fixed intake date. Tell us when you need delivery to begin and we'll confirm what we can commit to. Enquire early: we cap how many placements run at once.

Figures are drawn from our admin-confirmed outcomes records for this reporting period. Full workings and methodology are available on request.
