Repair & sustainability
Repair Cafe
A community repair event where our team fixes broken electronics, clothing, appliances and bikes instead of them going to landfill.
What happens
People bring in broken items (electronics, clothing, small appliances, bikes and more) and our team, with the right skills, works through repairs alongside them, rather than doing the fixing out of sight.
Our team covers a mix of crafts, including sewing, electronics, carpentry and bike repair, so the range of what can be fixed is broad. People get hands-on with their own repair, learn something about how the item works, and leave with it mended rather than binned.
It runs as an open, welcoming session with a registration point and a calming space for people waiting, alongside refreshments.
Benefits
It saves people money on replacing items, keeps usable things out of landfill, and passes on genuinely useful repair skills (sewing, basic electronics, bike maintenance) that people can then use again themselves. It also builds connections between people who have skills to share and people who need them.

The details
