National Databank
In the UK, 2.5 million households struggle to afford internet services, and 1 in 14 households lack home internet access entirely. This issue disproportionately affects vulnerable individuals who are already facing multiple inequalities.
The National Databank aims to help address this and is similar to a food bank but for mobile data, it offers free mobile SIM cards to assist digitally excluded individuals in getting connected.
How does the National Databank work?
The Good Things Foundation established the National Databank in collaboration with Virgin Media O2, with support from Vodafone and Three.
Virgin Media O2, Vodafone and Three regularly donate mobile data SIM cards to us at Good Things, which are then distributed to members of the Digital Inclusion Network like us.
People experiencing data poverty or living on a low income can pick up a free mobile SIM card from us, or if you are a local community organisation you can refer people to us using the form on this page and we will get the sim card to you.
