Reflecting on My Work Placement: A Journey of Growth and Learning
Imagine you have an idea for what your ideal software should be. But your available opitons just don’t cut it. That’s where Inclusive Bytes come in. We work with you to develop software that does exactly what you want and fits in with what you already have.
My work placement at inclusive bytes so far has been about websites, learning how they work, how to create them, and how to modify them for clients.
Here’s my experince so far!
The beginning:
Reading about the company, I learned that the team members were small and had good relationships with each other, making it easier to assist clients personally.
Entering the building for the first time, I thought “How homely looking”. It looked so calm and felt like I was at home which I personally liked. Big intimidating companies make me more self aware and at uptight. The setting was just right.
The night before my first day at work, I remember not being able to sleep. Let’s say it was a mixture of nervousness and excitement. The first day of work, I got up so early, I was here before everyone else. I got in after the doors were open, got a brief orientation and was told what to expect, what to do once I was in and the regular introduction.
Learning and Growth:
What we focus on in college is writing programs. Learning the basics of programming, how to write codes and fix them. Coming to Inclusive bytes, I’ve learned many interesting things. We learn all round. For example, I started with learning how to use wordpress to design webistes, then I learned how to use a new programming language – HTML, to design websites from scratch. Then we moved over to learning how to use 3D scanners. I was given the oppotunity to work on live projects for clients; helping them to adjust their websites according to thier specification.
I have also learned to work better with others and have an open mind. This has definitely contributed to my growth at Inclusive Bytes.
Challenges:
So far there hasn’t been any significant challenges yet. The only thing is just staying focused, keep getting better, putting in that extra hardwork. Of course, it’s not always easy. But when you keep doing your best, you’re bound to see results.
Achievements:
Some of the achivements I’ve made include: Learning how to design a website, Helping client’s modify websites, Gone for a presentation at Oldham library and gained significant recognitions from prominent individuals such as the Mayor, and owner of Oldham Athletic – Frank Rothwell
Relationships:
At work, I’ve enjoyed spending time with Andy, who I’ve finally agreed to stop calling “Sir” but won’t stop calling me a minion. Talha, my workmate from college and Gordon who everyone loves and likes making us comfortable. They’ve all made my stay at Inclusive Bytes enjoyable.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, my stay has been wonderful and exciting. I’m still keen on learning new things and seeing where this takes me. If you’re considering having a work placement experience, I’d say go for it. It teaches and exposes you to all sorts of new and exciting things that help in your personal development.
I’d like to express my appreciation to Andy and Gordon for giving me this opportunity and making my experinece here pleasurable.
