Archiving Online Content

by | Jul 13, 2024 | Hints & Tips | 0 comments

We were recently asked to add some content to one of our clients websites, the content consisted of a Word document where they had kept links to all their online press, articles in various news papers and websites. We soon discovered that many of these links were now broken, so the evidence of their outcomes was potentially lost.

This creates two problems, and as you know we at Inclusive Bytes like solving problems.

The first, is this info truely lost?
Maybe, but maybe not. There is a non-profit called The Internet Archive, their website https://archive.org/ archives lots of online content for prosperity, so with a little luck the first problem can be solved with a trip to the Internet Archive.

You can learn how to do this in our knowledge base at https://inclusivebytes.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/202000069169-access-old-web-pages

The second, can we stop it happening in future.

To avoid the problem its a good idea to get a copy of any online press you recieve, you can do this either by using a wbsite such as https://pikwy.com/ or of you need to do it on a regular basis installing a chrome extension such as GoFullPage.
